A complete game changer! Might be my all-time favorite periods product yet.
I initially bought those for a very specific purpose:
On heavy flow days, when I step out of the bath to dry myself up before putting on some underwear with a pad, blood often manages to run down my legs (no matter how fast I try to wipe my inner thighs before it does) and stain my towel.
Not to mention that I have very long hair that reach below my waist, and wearing a pair of wet underwear while drying them is extremely unpleasant.
So, I keep a small wet/dry bag with a few of them right next to my bathtub. And voilà! Problem solved!
The interlabial pad is absorbant enough to handle both the residual water from the bath (no need to use a towel before putting it in place) and whatever blood may fall during the time I need to properly and comfortably dry myself and my hair up.
Plus, unlike a piece of hastily shoved there toilet paper, it won't disintegrate and require you to go hunting for little torn bits of wet paper afterwards.
When I'm finally done and ready to put some dry panties or boxers on, I remove it, take about one second to rinse it, squeeze the water out of it, and put it in the wet section of the bag for laundry day.
Recently, I've also tried wearing them during the day, and it's been a bit of a revelation!
First, I can't use disposable products like tampons because they cause an allergic reaction; and I only wear cups when I go swimming, because they cause some issues with my low cervix when I use them for multiple days in a row.
And, no matter how absorbant and wicking pads (reusable or otherwise) are, they are powerless against those gelatinous bits of coagulated blood that will stay on the pad's surface.
Meaning that, unless you change your pad every single time you go to the bathroom, if you have that gelatinous layer on the surface, it will get cold by the time you put your underwear back on, and I genuinely hadn't realized how unpleasant that feeling of your bottom getting in contact with that cold gooey pad was until I started wearing interlabial pads.
First, if placed correctly, they are ridiculously comfortable and you don't feel them being there at all, regardless of how "gooey" they might get.
And, since that gelatinous layer stays stuck to the interlabial pad, any blood that would manage to get through them and reach a regular pad would be liquid, and thus absorbed by it. So, they facilitate the pad's job of keeping you comfortably dry.
I'd probably recommend to pair them up with a liner (or light period underwear) on heavy flow days, at the very least, if you're away from home and not sure how often you'll be able to replace it with a clean one.
But I've managed to wear a single one during 8 consecutive hours on a heavy flow day (I'm a reasonably heavy front bleeder), and it was completely saturated with blood, while the period underwear itself was perfectly dry!
Whenever I went to the bathroom, I just temporarily removed it and put it back in place after wiping.
The bonus of having a liner / period underwear is that you don't have to keep awkwardly holding that tiny leaf with your fingers while you go about your business and wipe. You can simply put it in your underwear, and take it back to reinsert it whenever you're ready to leave.
Overall, I'm super satisfied with the product!
Especially for just how small and easy it is to clean.
The pads from this company are also some of the easiest to rinse I've ever found; but reusable pads are bulkier than interlabial pads, obviously, and I don't personally feel as confident putting them in a wet bag without first hanging them somewhere to dry for a few hours.
Those interlabial pads, however, are so small, and it's so easy to squeeze the excess water out of them, that I'm fine with just dropping them in the wet bag while still slightly damp.
When fully saturated with blood, it takes under a minute to rinse them until the water runs clean.
It's that easy!
