Wash & Care

For Heavy Messes

Start with a short pre-wash in warm water (up to 140°F / 60°C) using the recommended amount of detergent; we suggest Tide Original to Line 1. Follow with a heavy-duty, longest-cycle wash in warm or cold water, using the full recommended detergent amount. Add other laundry items to create a full load for proper agitation.

For Everyday or Light Use

If the mat is lightly soiled or already pre-rinsed, a regular wash cycle in cold or warm water (up to 140°F / 60°C) with the normal amount of detergent is sufficient.

Do not use bleach, fabric softeners, or natural detergents, as they can affect waterproofing and absorbency.

Drying

Hang to dry whenever possible. If needed, tumble dry on low heat.

How do you wash & dry Lifesaver Mats?

Before washing, remove any solids from your product. For heavily soiled items that may stain or develop odors, rinse under cold running water until clear before storing. For a deep clean, start with a pre-wash on a short warm cycle (up to 140°F / 60°C) using the recommended amount of detergent, then follow with a heavy-duty wash on the longest cycle in warm or cold water, adding other items to create a full load for proper agitation. For everyday or lightly soiled items, a regular cycle in cold or warm water with the usual amount of detergent is sufficient. Hang to dry whenever possible, or tumble dry on low if needed.

What are they made of?

How much can Lifesaver Mats absorb?

That’s a great question! Unfortunately it is a little tricky to answer. If you evenly and steadily distributed water across the entire mat, we could probably give you an amount, but that’s not really how most humans leak and therefore not how the mats get used. We do have this handy video to show you how our Lifesaver Mats absorb. This should give you an idea of how it works and if it will be a good fit for the mess you have in mind!

Chair protector

I’ve got ALS and use the mini mats to protect my power chair cushion from accidents or leaks. I use a purewick system when I’m in my chair and it’s super temperamental and prone to leaks. One time I didn’t know the hose had come loose and the pad held a full bladder and kept my cushion clean. They still look new even after tons of washes. And so much better on my skin than the ones I started with from another company.

My grandma got this, im sure it works just as well because its the same thing but in a different colour.
