We know that everyone has different needs. So this trial lets you choose different available sizes of our reusable menstrual pads. Variety is the spice of life. Have your doubts about reusable pads?

Dip a toe in before you dive in head first.

We get it. Reusable pads are a big change. And despite our seemingly light and fluffy demeanor, we too can be prone to our moments of jaded skepticism. So whether it is Lil Helper or cloth pads in general that are causing your side-eye, this trial kit will let you sample a little of both so you can walk before you run.

Okay, but why make the switch?

From comfort to sustainability, cloth has compelling benefits.

Whether you are looking to save money, the environment, or some discomfort in your nethers, cloth may be the magical option for you. Cloth pads are a great way to reduce your single-use plastic, save yourself a boatload of money, and may even make your periods less awful (yes, really). But they aren’t for everyone. Check out a full rundown on the Pros and Cons of Cloth Pads for more info on making the switch.

Worried about the logistics of reusable pads?

We offer a whole system.

Because why create half a painting or build part of a bridge? Not only will you get to try different absorbencies of HyP pads but we’ve also got you covered with all the accessories you need to make using them simple. As part of this kit you can add-on select storage options for your HyPs system. If you are curious about other great options, we suggest you check out our Zipper Wetbag for storage and our Large Mesh Bag for laundry. We also have a HyPs with a travel case (Combo Bag), home storage (Dry/Wetbag).

I must admit, now that I have given them a try, I will be spreading the gospel of HyPs far and wide. But if you aren’t one to have blind faith, give the trial kit a go and decide whether the HyPs line is for you.

These fantastic pads consist of a few different layers!
The top is our amazing bamboo stay dry liners, to help disperse liquid and keep you feeling dry.

Followed by 2 layers (3 for heavy) of absorbent bamboo terry cloth and finishing the pads off with a layer of waterproof PUL to prevent any leaks from making it to your undergarments! Yay! There are 2 snaps on the wings so that you can adjust the size to work for your particular undies!
There are 3 different sizes available in the hyps; a liner, regular and heavy.

The liners and regulars both consist of 2 layers of absorbent bamboo terry. The liners are 8” long while the regulars are 10”.

The heavy hyps are great for overnight or heavy flows. They have a third layer of absorbent terry and are 12” long.
Rinse out all blood or liquid with cold water until the water runs clear. Wring them out gently and put aside in a wet bag (with lots of air flow) until wash day. You can wash with your diapers or regular laundry. Use cold or warm water, do not add bleach or fabric softeners. Hang dry, or dry on low.

Fantastic

I'm in my 40's and my body is changing! It became uncomfortable to wear a cup because of some bladder/pelvic floor issues. So I was using tons of disposable pads and feeling pretty bummed! Decided to give these a try and they really work! Will definitely be ordering more.

Hiya Merenda,
The trumpets are playing and the confetti poppers are going off like crazy around here knowing that we helped you ditch disposables and make the switch to reausables!
I hope you find them comforable and reach out to us at delight@lilhelper.ca if you ever need us!
Cheers,
Caitlin @ Lil Helper

I was highly skeptical because the pad is so thin. I wore it for MANY HOURS and no leaks. Normally would have gone through several disposable pads in the timeframe on a heavy day.

Hi Merenda,
When we design a product, it is always our mission to include a happy surprise for folks like you. Sometimes it's an easter egg hidden in a print, or a thoughtful detail in our tags, and sometimes it's just creating something that makes people skeptical and then exceeds expectations.
It is a thrill to everyone on our team to know we hit the mark with you!
With gratitude,
Caitlin @ Lil Helper

I was skeptical

I wasn’t sure if I would like these or if they’d actually work, but decided to try them out. I’m not sure if I used it “backwards” or “forwards,” but it was very comfortable! I was also worried it’d show through with my tight(er) dress, but nothing showed through. It was so easy to wash. I haven’t had a full cycle on these, but wear for spotting days, and it wasn’t super messy or anything.

Hi Kristen,
When it comes to wearing HyPs 'the right way' there really is no right way. Because every body and flow is different, while we originally designed them to have the shorter side at the front, many folks like to wear them backwards!
It is wonderful to read that you found them comfortable and discrete.
We are so grateful to have the opportunity to offer you a cycle solution!
With kind regards,
Caitlin @ Lil Helper

Kinda Just Meh

I bought a couple in a few sizes, excluding pantyliners, so I could try out reusables to help out sensitive skin. I have these and a few I made, so there's not much for me to compare them to in terms of my experience. I did expect a commercial reusable pad to be nicer than my slapped together sewing. And the conclusion is just kind of meh. They did the job, absorbed the flow (medium-heavy period), washed up good. They shifted, had a really short front, poorly shaped wings that rubbed and would rub worse if worn backwards to help the shifting/short front. Though the binding is a soft jersey material, it is too bulky and uncomfortable after a day or two of rubbing. Though quite absorbant, they are also rather squelchy and I was concerned that my movements throughout the day would cause leaks from the pad being 'squeazed' by my movements throughout the day. It didn't leak, but felt as if it would. This was consistent with both the heavy and regular pads and so wasn't a problem from me using the wrong absorbancy.

So, they will stay in my stash, but won't be the ones I reach for first. I'll probably save them for days I'm not working or doing active things since the squelchy feeling is not nice. I'll stick to sewing my own since it's less expensive and I like the finished product better. I can put the wings where I need them and avoid the binding that rubs.

Good except they don't stay in place

Overall they are comfortable and effective, the only issue is that they don't stay in place which has resulted in some instances of getting blood on my underwear and thus when wearing some anxiety and hyper-vigilance about them sliding. I've heard new ones are coming with silicone dots, which is great, but I'll have to make some kind of modification to the ones I have in order to have them be truly usable and trustworthy.

Hi N.L.
Thank you for taking the time to send us feedback. It is like food to us, it makes us so much better and helps us grow.
From similar feedback to yours, you are right that we will be releasing our new HyPs Active line very very soon to help our pads stay in place. Every body is different, and some folks reporting wearing our OG HyPs backwards helps very much.
Thank you again for giving us a try and sharing your experience. It is truly appreciated.
With warm regards,
Caitlin @ Lil Helper
